Less than 40 kilometers from Managua, where more than 23,000 years there was a gigantic volcanic explosion, today is one of the favorite tourist destinations in Nicaragua: the Laguna de Apoyo. This site recreational waters characterized by ecological and comfortable hotels, is part of an adventure to be lived and enjoyed from the crater of a volcano.

More than 23,000 years, a volcanic eruption formed a caldera 6 km in diameter, which eventually accumulated groundwater and rainwater into a lagoon slopes covered with vegetation. Today is the Laguna de Apoyo tourist destination, just 40 kilometers from Managua, capital of Nicaragua.

This volcanic lake is between the departments of Masaya and Granada and its slopes and costs are shared by the municipalities of Catarina, San Juan de Oriente, say and Granada.
