Our current lodging Bed & Breakfast lodging offerings are:
- One en-suite room on the street level upstairs from the Apartment and Bunk Bed Rooms. The en-suite has its own bathroom. Queen-sized bed.
All guests are provided with a full Nicaraguan country breakfast that may include fresh fruit and juice from our own fruit trees, eggs from our hens, beans from our fields, and tortilla from our farm-grown corn. Other options such as cereal or continental breakfast are available as well. We think the Nica breakfast is a great way to start another busy day exploring the area!
Farmstay El Porton Verde has on-site management (owners Mike and Miranda live on the property), and daily housekeeping is included in the room rate.
We live on a working farm where we have fruit tree orchards, herb gardens, corn and bean fields, and lots and lots of plantain and banana plants. Also, we have experimented quite a bit with hugelkultur, planting what we thought was gandul or pigeon pea, vetiver grass and madero negro trees.
Our caretaker, Don Francisco, loves to take visitors on tours of the farm area. If you want to know the Spanish names for various trees, Chico will let you know all about it!
We also offer specialty tours to local places of interest such as Volcano Masaya (try the awesome nighttime tour!), the Masaya artisan’s market, Managua day and half-day tours, local private conservation preserves, etc. Ask us for further details.
